What is a Clinical Dental Technician?

The role of the Clinical Dental Technician (CDT) sits somewhere between that of a dentist, who would usually take the impressions for new dentures and that of a dental technician, who receives the impressions from the dentist and then makes the dentures without ever meeting the patient.

The CDT fulfils both roles – completing both the clinical and technical stages.

There are fewer than 400 CDTs in the UK - and we are fortunate enough to have two of those working here at Chapman Dental Solutions! Both Ross and Andy have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to making the perfect prosthetic; both were highly experienced Registered Dental Technicians prior to qualifying, and they have now been performing as Clinical Dental Technicians for over 19 years collectively.

If you have been lucky enough to have been treated by either of them, you will understand the value of a CDT.
